Tavistock Square Gardens

United Kingdom / England
Location ID: #999-3555
Tavistock Square has a number of features that are there to promote peace. The Gandhi, Japanese, Virginia Woolf and Aldrich Blake are four new planted beds which reinforce the themes of some of the key memorials in the park. There is also Mahatma Gandhi memorial, a tree planted to commemorate the victims of the Hiroshima bombing and a Conscientious Objectors’ memorial stone. In one corner is an impressive stone bench which commemorates Dame Lousia Aldrich-Blake, one of the first women surgeons. Suitably, the lovely variety of trees, shrubbery and plant life make the park a wonderfully relaxed and peaceful environment. [TAGS; park/parks; Camden; World War One; World War Two; World Wars].
