St Hilda’s College, University of Oxford

United Kingdom /
Location ID: #999-26561
Set in a stunning riverside location, this beautiful college is home to every type of architecture, from the 19th century to the modern day. The two original buildings offer period details, elegant reception rooms (some of them overlooking the river) and ornate wooden staircases. They can easily be dressed to double for houses of the period or boarding schools etc. Other buildings on the site include the Jacqueline du Pré music auditorium with glass foyer (built in the 1990s), a 1960s Grade II listed brutalist student residence, an award-winning modern brick, metal and glass office and accommodation block with its own tower and amazing views of the dreaming spires, a modern pavilion with brutalist details housing an events space, a 1950s family home, a mid-century brick Georgian-style student residence and another student residence and office building built in the early 2000s. These buildings contain an Art Deco library, a wood-panelled dining hall and a College bar with interesting period details. There is also a small gym housed in a log cabin on site, a small meadow and a rose garden. The College also owns two properties in central and north Oxford, offering a beautiful central Georgian townhouse and a classic north Oxford Victorian villa, as well as Radley Large Wood. Please see the separate listings for full details. With drive-in access on a cul-de-sac east of the city centre and ample space for green rooms, shoots of all sizes can be accommodated. There are small areas of hardstanding parking space throughout the college, an area of grassed matted space in the central gardens and a meadow that can accommodate around 15 crew cars (additional matting required). Although filming is mainly restricted to holiday periods, the terms are short and small shoots may be accommodated during term time.
